Gameplay
The game is played from a first-person perspective in single-player mode or in coop multiplayer. It is an open world simulation in which the player must survive by collecting raw materials and food. However, the character of Jake cannot rely solely on hoarding these essentials. Players must also craft shelter and weapons from the materials they have collected. The player begins in a lonely camp in the jungle without any further context. During the game, dynamic changes occur within the environment that affect the physical and psychological state of the character, e.g. in the form of hallucinations. Furthermore, the player must maintain a balanced diet with the help of a smart watch. The smartwatch provides an overview of the nutrients that the character is lacking by notifying the player through the player's health. The player must get enough sleep and must maintain health, such as avoiding contact with poisonous animals or unsavory foods and avoiding injury. The player can craft medicine and bandages that allow him to restore health. Infected wounds can be treated by inserting maggots into the wound and dressing once the maggots have removed the dead flesh. A compass and GPS serve as a navigation aid.
Story
The story revolves around an anthropologist named Jake Higgins, who wakes up in a jungle on the edge of the Amazon River. He tries to familiarize himself with the surroundings in order to ensure his survival and to find his wife, Mia, who went missing after going on a solo trip to a nearby tribal village. She is a linguist and wants to make first contact with the indigenous people of Yabahuc.His only connection to her is through the radio.
